Discover The Carriage House Inn Bed & Breakfast
A HISTORIC TURN-OF-THE-CENTURY CARRIAGE HOUSE IN MEADVILLE, PENNSYLVANIA
Secluded within a city block of Meadville, the beautifully restored carriage house was once part of the estate of Arthur Clarke Huidekoper and his wife, Frances Louise. Arthur Clarke was a successful rancher, horse breeder, capitalist, and philanthropist. When the carriage house was built in the 1890s, it was nestled behind the Huidekoper Mansion on a hill overlooking English gardens. Over the years, the barn lapsed into neglect and was purchased in the early 1990s and converted into a private residence.
The carriage house became a bed and breakfast in 2019 and offers the perfect setting for a romantic getaway, business trip, relaxing reprieve, or social event. The Inn offers four unique rooms, and guests can marvel at the original stone foundation and beams that were left to add character to the structure. The once hay loft area is now a comfortable 2nd-floor common area. The original yellow brick road from the carriage house to the mansion is now an outdoor patio.
As new owners in February 2025, we look forward to continuing the carriage house as a bed and breakfast, welcoming guests to enjoy a glimpse into the past of this once grand estate, where, just over the fence, the Huidekoper Mansion still stands.
